An Armillary sphere is an ancient device developed to track the rotation of the sun, moon, and celestial objects around the earth (a fixed sphere in the axis.) Despite the Armillary’s archaic premise that the heavens rotate around the earth, the instrument was still a useful device that produced accurate results. The course will provide the foundation for an exhibition at the Cantor Arts Center and the Yale University Art Gallery in 2016. Shifting between macro and micro perspectives, she offers abstract cityscapes and crowd scenes focussing on architecturally determined spatial relations, trajectories and human flows.
